To reduce choking danger, always purchase a pacifier that comes as a solid molded piece instead of one which has been created as separate pieces fused together.

Chose pacifiers which contain holes in the shield. These holes allow saliva to escape instead of getting caught between the pacifier and the baby's lips where it can cause a skin rash.

Constantly check the pacifier, especially the nipple end, to make sure that it has not become brittle. Brittle nipples can break off and choke a child. Remember, never tie a pacifier around your child's neck as this can create a strangulation danger.
